- Content and effectiveness
Bushman is gentle on the skin, has a pleasant and neutral scent, and contains allergy-free ingredients to ensure customer satisfaction and effectiveness. The active ingredient in Bushman is DEET, which is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the most effective mosquito repellent on the market. DEET was developed in the USA as protection against insect-borne diseases in tropical environments, and is approved for use in Sweden by the Chemicals Inspectorate (Reg. No. 5392/5393/5394). Bushman has long-lasting protection against mosquitoes, up to 15 hours, and has been tested to be the most effective protection against insects in Australia. The unique combination of active substance, fragrance and adhesion means that Bushman resists sweat, water and clothes and provides effective and pleasant protection without smelling chemicals.
History
Bushman mosquito repellent was developed in the 80s by Tom Bethurem, an Australian chemist living in Australia's northern swamps, an area notorious for extremely difficult mosquito and insect conditions. The Bushman was tested and improved over many years in these extremely harsh conditions, to ensure maximum protection and best performance in the harshest environments. Since Bushman was made available to the Australian and New Zealand market in the early 1990s, sales have steadily increased to become the best selling insect repellent on the market.
How did Bushman came to Sweden?
A "Västerbottning" resident in Australia heard about Bushman's unique combination of pleasant fragrance and unparalleled efficiency, and visited the head office and the factory to discuss the possibilities of importing Bushman to Sweden. A Bushman box was purchased and field tested under difficult Swedish conditions; Västerbottnian marshlands and forests, southern Swedish archipelagos and meadows, during midsummer celebrations, football tournaments, city festivals and moose hunting, with astonishingly good efficiency. The process of seeking approval for Bushman's products in Sweden began with the Chemicals Inspectorate, and approval was obtained in December 2017 for the import and distribution of Bushman. The Norrland company DEAL AB owns the rights to import and distribute Bushman in Sweden and Scandinavia.
